February 24, 2023Greece seventh most sought-after destination in the world for family holidays in 2023
February 25, 2023This year's tourist season for Rhodes is looking very promising. According to bookings by tour operators and airlines for international flights arriving at Diagoras Airport, the number of visitors is expected to be high in all months, with a peak in July and August as usual. This indicates that there will be a significant increase in the number of passengers travelling to Rhodes this summer.
Indications for the months from April to October are looking very positive, following last year's record-breaking tourism season in the South Aegean and Dodecanese, including Rhodes. This year is expected to be just as successful, based on encouraging messages from tourism agents and the South Aegean region. Strategic planning, targeted actions, collaborations and agreements with major tour operators such as TUI have enabled Rhodes to remain one of the most sought-after destinations on the world tourism map.
The new tourist season starts for Rhodes with the first charters on Tuesday, March 14.
Airlines have already booked their flight schedules for aircraft arrivals on the island and based on slots, the picture is shaping up as follows for international charter flights, based on Real Voice 99.5's report:
April 1,100
May 2,300
June 3,400
July 4,050
August 4,000
September 3,600
October 2,200
Based on the figures outlined above, T.O. has scheduled 20,650 charter flights to Rhodes for the upcoming season - not taking into account March, which will open earlier than ever before on 14th March, or November. The final figures will be available at the end of February. This provides a glimpse of the influx of tourists and travelers expected to visit Rhodes this year - an exciting proposition that is sure to bring about more success and joy for the local businesses and residents.
It is noted, of course, that the pre-bookings of April, May and less of June, like every year, are expected to have small fluctuations of the order of 5-10%, mainly from the Scandinavian market.
Tourism is one of the most important sectors in our country, driving economic growth and development. The majority of tourist businesses in Rhodes plan to start the new season from 10th March; some hotels will open as early as 14th March to welcome the first guests, with many more operating from April onwards.
